Joe Bataan up in Latin Harlem where he started his career by interpreting his personal experiences from the streets. With his natural talent for different genres of music and self-taught skills on the piano, he formed his first band in and had his first hit, Gypsy Woman, on the Fania Records label in The song was a hit in the New York Latin market, even though the lyrics were in English.

Original Fania Records 1st Cloud label variation release which although includes track B5/Shaft on the jacket, it is not listed on the label. It does however, exist as a track on the record itself. Released with a vinyl weight of approx. grams. Track B1/Charangaringa starts as a Cha Cha, and changes to a fast Salsa/5(10).

Funky fusion with plenty of Latin touches – a really compelling set from the Nicaraguan scene of the 70s! The album's got the same criss-crossing of influences you'd hear in some of the best Bay Area projects of this type – no surprise since Jose Chepito Areas is a key member of the LP, Vinyl record albumBrand: Fania (Label).

This is the first album that I ever heard by Joe Bataan. Actually around when his version of Shaft first came out in 45 RPM taiquilavitorkastperstalversvesehuck.coinfo was perhaps the first Latin record I had heard played on English radio (WABC). Some years later when I purchased the vinyl album..I came to love it very much. My favorite song is El Regreso/5(7).

One of the last albums from the team of Johnny Pacheco and Pete El Conde Rodriguez – and one of the best, too! The set's got an all-solid feel all the way through – a well-crafted approach to the tunes that's simple, and almost effortless – but which comes from Pacheco's years of LP, Vinyl record album Johnny Pacheco & Celio Gonzales.
